Why DeafCasting.Com?
Of the 28 million Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH) people in this country, there is a rich, yet untapped source of talented performers, actors and artistic professionals out there. With the dawn of a new millennium and the growing awareness of cultural diversity, it is even more crucial that we continue to achieve this artistic reality.
With the advent of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law by George H. Bush, on July 26,1990, there is a growing crop of Deaf and HOH talents, who have spent time and money honing their craft. Many of these are now professionals working within their own community who want to expand into other areas.
DeafCasting.com was created to provide a service of finding Deaf or HOH talents that are needed when a role calls for a Deaf or HOH character. Our expertise is that we are deeply entrenched within this community and culture, as well as having several decades of work experience and knowledge in the television, film and theater industry.
